Specifying Systemair and Fantech Together on Educational Projects

Comfort

Systemair and Fantech offer complementary products that work well together for various multi-family and commercial scenarios. Educational buildings are just one example.

The Power of Two

Along with requiring multiple types of ventilation systems, schools often have a variety of additional challenges unique to the institution, such as facility managers with too much ground to cover, students being rough on the systems, finding classroom space, dealing with modular classrooms, and specific classroom needs, such as woodshop or science labs.

As ventilation brands, Fantech and Systemair products are cohesive components in HVAC systems.

Changeair

The Changeair Series of Vertical Unitary Ventilators is primarily designed for K-12 classrooms, but colleges, daycares, and modular classrooms are suited for their capabilities as well. The systems offer a decentralized solution so that each unit is sized for each specific classroom and can be dialed in for the ideal air exchanges per hour. They can last twice as long as standard outdoor rooftop central air handlers and be repurposed later.

Changeair products are the only ones in the industry with a differential pressure monitoring system for an energy recovery wheel built into a ventilator. This brings added benefits like minimizing the spread of disease in the classroom and improving the energy efficiency of heat exchange to control room temperature and humidity.

Fresh Air Appliances

For new schools being built from the ground up, Systemair components combine effortlessly with Fantech products, making it easy to source from one company for projects where bids and budgets are especially challenging to navigate. Fantech unitary HRVs and ERVs ), for example, excel in zones like front offices, nurse’s stations, and teacher’s lounges, where a small amount of ventilation is needed in a challenging space. Depending on room layout and size, they can be either floor-mounted, wall-mounted, or suspended from the ceiling.

Bathfan, PRVs, and Inline Fans

The bathfan Series is ideal for specifying in single bathrooms, such as an ADA bathroom or teacher’s bathroom, and offer low sones to ensure a quieter atmosphere for learning and breaks between classes. The bathfan COM 200-300-400-500 is ideal for student bathrooms up to 500 square feet and offers selectable airflow settings up to 500 CFM.

Cafeteria kitchens also benefit from power roof ventilators or food prep exhaust fans, which help to replace strong odors with fresher, cleaner air instead of letting lunchroom smells linger in common spaces.

Keeping Laundry Duct Lines Lint Free

A program sponsored by Whirlpool, Whirlpool Care Counts Program, has revealed that strategically placing washing machines in schools significantly boosts attendance rates and participation.

In addressing the challenge of finding laundry space within educational institutions, the DEDPV-705, a dryer exhaust duct power ventilator, proves instrumental. Certified by UL to meet the stringent requirements of UL705 and suitable for both gas and electric clothes dryers, the DEDPV-705 enhances dryer efficiency by overcoming pressure losses caused by long or restrictive exhaust duct designs and the effects of high altitudes, ultimately leading to faster drying times.

With a capacity to accommodate duct runs up to 125 linear feet, this ventilator becomes a valuable solution when the equivalent duct length ranges between 25 and 125 feet, offering schools a practical and efficient means of improving their laundry facilities.

Opting for Systemair Products

All Systemair and Fantech product lines are also easy to service, thanks to designs with easy-access points. For many competing systems, even changing an air filter requires a lot of effort: First, they must be found within the system, and then they need to be extracted from it, which often means partial unit deconstruction. Systemair products are hailed as the easiest units in the industry to service. The accessibility to filters, compressors, and condensing coils means school caretakers and maintenance workers can get in, get the job done, and move on to the next project without wasting time.

Creating a Healthy Learning Space

Students and educators can only thrive in healthy environments. Studies show that classrooms and educational buildings with poor ventilation equate to poor concentration and information retention. Systems that ensure adequate fresh, clean air throughout the building are key investments, and Fantech and Systemair combine to do just that.
